Casualties of Damascus bombing increase to 1 dead, 31 wounded

Casualties from the two explosions that targeted Damascus' central area have increased to one killed and 31 injured, while security officials stated that they have managed to find a "clue" to trace the identity of the two bombers.

The Damascus health directorate has announced that there is one casualty and 31 people were wounded as a result of the two blasts that took place in the vicinity of the tourism ministry, despite the previous announcement by the interior ministry that only 18 people were injured, four of them being police officials.

Noureddine Baba, an official spokesman for the interior ministry, revealed at a press conference that security forces have managed to get a clue to trace the bombers.

According to him, the two blasts occurred after the use of two improvised explosive devices (IEDs). One of the IEDs was planted in a car while the other was found in a garbage can. Furthermore, he stated that the bombings were targeting the security perimeter designated to guard the visit of the French President, Emmanuel Macron.

In another development, the bombing led to an onslaught of Arab condemnations against it. This is because the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Lebanon strongly condemned terrorism and violence.
