Calls to end Turkish occupation crimes

The Health Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo issued a statement to the public, read by nurse Hanan Sheikho from Martyr Khaled Fajr Hospital, in the presence of several council members and medical personnel.

The statement highlighted the “continued Turkish aggression on villages and cities using various types of weapons, including warplanes and heavy artillery, targeting civilians and vital facilities such as hospitals and schools.”

It further stated that “the recent attack on civilian convoys near Tishrin Dam resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens, including medical personnel, which constitutes a war crime under international conventions.”

The statement reaffirmed “the resilience of the people in the face of aggression, as these attacks have failed to break the will of the region’s inhabitants in defending their land.”

It pointed out that “the Turkish occupation seeks to exploit the chaos in Syria to expand its occupation through a policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing.”

The statement also noted that “Turkey has not adhered to the ceasefire imposed by the international coalition, making it a rogue state that practices terrorism and destabilizes security and stability in the region.”

Furthermore, it warned that “the violations committed by the Turkish occupation contribute to the revival of ISIS, and the daily crimes at Tishrin Dam, which have so far resulted in the martyrdom of about 15 civilians and the injury of around 40 others, bring to mind the history of this state, built on the blood of the region’s people. These crimes also rekindle ISIS, allowing it to resume its terrorist activities in the region and globally, once again threatening world peace, especially as the 10th anniversary of the Kobani resistance victory and ISIS’s defeat approaches at the hands of those whom Turkey is fighting today.”

The statement strongly condemned “the massacres committed by the Turkish occupation against civilians at Tishrin Dam and throughout NR Syria.” It also denounced “the silence of the international community, human rights organizations, and the UN Security Council regarding these crimes.”

The council called for “an urgent end to Turkish aggression and for Turkey to be held accountable for its crimes, which constitute war crimes against humanity.”

It also stressed “the importance of protecting medical personnel and civilian infrastructure, such as dams, schools, and hospitals, from conflict, and urged pressure on Turkey to withdraw from Syrian territory, ensuring that displaced people can return to their homes safely and with dignity.”
