Body of martyr Saleh Muslim arrives at Semalka border crossing

The body of the martyr Saleh Muslim, a member of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party, arrived at eleven o'clock this morning. He passed away yesterday (March 11, 2026) in a hospital in the city of Erbil in southern Kurdistan, where he was receiving treatment

The body was received by dozens of residents of the Derik region and members of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), who raised party flags and chanted slogans glorifying the martyrs.

Upon arrival at the border crossing, mourners carried the martyr's body on their shoulders, adorning the coffin with flowers.

The body of martyr Saleh Muslim will be transported to the city of Qamishlo, where residents of the towns of Derik, Girkê Legê, and Tirbespiyê have begun preparations to receive it.

A farewell ceremony for martyr Saleh Muslim, known locally as "Bavi Welat," is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Qamishlo, before his body is later transferred to his hometown of Kobani, where he will be laid to rest in the Martyr Dijla Shrine.

It is worth noting that Saleh Muslim served as co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) from 2010 to 2017 and most recently held a position on the party's Presidential Council.
