A mass gathering took place today in Bağcılar Square in Istanbul, where tens of thousands participated in the "Freedom March." Participants chanted slogans calling for the release of Abdullah Ocalan, including, "There is no life without the Leader," while carrying his portraits and banners. The event also featured traditional dance performances and songs.

The gathering began with a minute of silence in memory of those described by the organizers as martyrs, followed by the revolutionary anthem, with participants chanting, "Martyrs are immortal."

Addressing the crowd, DEM Party spokesperson Doğan said that Turkish society is home to diverse languages and beliefs, calling for a society based on equality, freedom, and peace.

She stated that "there should be no fear of leader Abdullah Ocalan's freedom," adding that "he has struggled for peace and freedom for 27 years." She also called for improving his detention conditions, describing it as a step linked to the peace process.

Doğan added that peace is the key to democracy, arguing that a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue would pave the way for greater understanding among the country's different communities and strengthen coexistence. She urged that the current opportunity to achieve peace should not be missed.
