The Ministry of Education of the Syrian Interim Government announced that it has opened the application process for the equivalency of non-Syrian secondary school certificates at examination departments across all governorates.

The process begins on August 2, 2026, and applicants are urged to prepare the required documentation in accordance with established regulations.

Students must submit their original secondary school certificate along with a transcript of studied subjects; these documents must be authenticated by the foreign ministry of the issuing country or by its embassy in Syria.

Certificates issued by non-Arab countries must be translated into Arabic and authenticated by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Applicants are also required to present proof of identity—such as a national ID card, passport, or civil registry extract—and submit a PDF file containing all required documents before paying the prescribed fee to finalize the application.

The Ministry noted that it accepts applications for foreign certificate equivalency conditionally—prior to the completion of all authentication procedures—though the issuance of the equivalency document will be withheld until all necessary authentications are obtained and the authenticity of the documents is verified with the issuing authority.

It further indicated that if there are deficiencies in core subjects—whether in the scientific or literary streams—students may be required to sit for supplementary exams in accordance with the Ministry's approved regulations and guidelines.

The Ministry of Education advised students seeking further information to visit the examination departments in their respective governorates for details and answers to inquiries regarding the certificate equivalency process.
