At least 100 people set themselves on fire in response to conspiracy theory about leader

Turkey had deluded itself that it had gotten rid of the Kurdish issue after the arrest of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and demanded the Kurdistan Freedom Movement to surrender, but the anger and revenge came with strong messages through the Kurds and other peoples setting themselves on fire in sacrificial operations; forming a ring of fire around the Imrali resistance.

With the departure of Leader Abdullah Ocalan from Syria, October 9, 1998, the first threads of the international conspiracy began that bore the fingerprints of international intelligence, especially after a series of threats by the Turkish occupation to invade Syria militarily.

This led to the kidnapping of Leader Abdullah Ocalan from the Greek embassy in Kenya, February 15, 1999, in an international conspiracy that had no parallel in history, as many countries of the world participated in it, as part of a diplomatic and intelligence plan that was prepared in dark American rooms.

On the night of the beginning of the international conspiracy, October 9, 1998, the activities of “You Cannot Block Our Sun” began from behind the bars of Marash Prison in Northern Kurdistan, and spread to every place where Kurds live in the world, and people from other nations participated in it. More than 100 patriots and revolutionaries set themselves on fire, 60 of whom were martyred, from that time until today.

How did “You Cannot Block Our Sun” begin?

In protest against the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the revolutionary, Mehmet Halid Ural, set himself on fire from behind bars in Maraş Prison in Northern Kurdistan, on the night of October 9, 1998, in an event called “You Cannot Block Our Sun”.

Ural left a letter in which he addressed Leader Abdullah Ocalan, saying: “My anger, hatred and revenge are very great, but in prison I cannot do this against the enemy through this operation, I want to show my loyalty to you once again, and I want to take revenge once again”.

This paved the way for hundreds to carry out such a sacrificial operation.

In Turkish prisons

* Selamat Menteş

Left a message that read: "Loyalty to the leadership is possible through understanding oneself and building oneself, protecting the leadership is possible through being one voice and one body, protecting the leadership is possible through reaching the fire of freedom."

* Mehmet Aydın

Addressed a letter to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, in which he said: "Since October 9, I have been wondering what the moment we are living without "APO" and without the PKK means? The results you have reached are very bad, and because the dark forces know this very well, they are besieging you. You are the reason for our unity, the reason for our existence, and this is the reason for all the attacks."

Russia

These sacrificial activities continued to reach in front of the Russian Parliament building in Moscow, on the night of November 17, 1998, where Ramzi Akush (Jihat) and Ahmed Yildirim (Tayhan) set themselves on fire. The martyrs' activity was broadcast on many international television channels. This activity opened new horizons within the "You Cannot Block Our Sun" activities, and the world public opinion saw what the Kurds would do for Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

In the first hours of the kidnapping of Leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 15, 1999, 11 Kurdish patriots set themselves on fire in Istanbul, Turkey alone. These activities showed the extent of society's connection to the leader.

* Serpil Polat

The honorary member of the Marxist-Leninist Armed Propaganda Association (MLSPB) Serpil Polat left a letter in which she wrote: "I condemn the imperialist attacks on the revolutionary leader Abdullah Ocalan, especially on the Kurdish people, and I insist that Ocalan will not be tried, and I express my anger at the enemy with my body fire."

* Jihan Deirk

He explained in his letter the reason that prompted him to do so, saying: "Leader Ocalan is history, his end means the end of history, for me Leader Ocalan is the world and the hereafter, existence and non-existence, character, courage, morality and everything in life."

After the start of the July 19th Revolution in Rojava, the square where he was martyred in Amuda was named after Martyr Jihan.

* Elefteria Fortolaki

* Elefteria Fortolaki, a young Greek woman and mother of two, who was nicknamed the “Bride of Kurdistan” joined the “You Cannot Block Our Sun” activist caravan.

Elefteria left behind a message written in Kurdish: “A warm greeting to the great and unique leader Abdullah Ocalan. I congratulate everyone on the Newroz of 2006 (even though it comes late from me), and I will celebrate it as Zekiye Alkan, Sema Yuce, Ronahi, Berivan, and Rehshan Demirel did. No one can block our sun. The freedom of the Kurdish people and Leader "APO" is the freedom of all peoples and the world. Long live the brotherhood of peoples. Long live peace.”

* Viyan Soran

Vian Soran (Leyla Vali Hasan) set herself on fire; she became one of the symbols of the "You Cannot Block Our Sun" activities, on the night of February 1-2, 2006 in Heftanin, and wrote in her letter: "I want to become a candle around Imrali Island".

In 2023

* Vesi Taş

The Kurdish patriot, Vesi Taş (65 years old), set himself on fire on January 12, 2023, in the Qoser district of Merdin, in protest against the isolation imposed on Leader Ocalan, which is part of the international conspiracy.

Vessi Taş revealed in a letter his motives for this sacrificial operation, and said: "I will protest the isolation imposed on Imrali, and I have no other goals or endeavors. I am sacrificing my soul for this cause, I am sacrificing it for the leader of Kurdistan, and I have always spent my life for this cause."

Mehmet Akar

On January 16, 2023, the young man Mehmet Akar was martyred after setting himself on fire in the Sur district of the Kurdish city of Amed, in protest against the severe isolation.

Akar left a message in which he said: "There is no information about Leader Ocalan. They do not allow his family and lawyers to visit and meet him. They reject all their requests to meet him. We are concerned about Leader Ocalan's health. In order to express my rejection of these measures, I will set myself on fire at the Keçkan Tower in Amed at 21:21. So that the light of the fire burning my body will illuminate Imrali. I hope that my activity will become a means to achieve the physical freedom of Leader Ocalan."
