Arrest of a leader, two elements who targeted internal forces

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in the North and East of Syria region announced on its official websites a short while ago that the Counter-Terrorism Forces carried out a qualitative operation that resulted in the arrest of a leader and two others linked to the Damascus government forces in Deir-ez-Zor canton.

Regarding the operation and those arrested, the media center reported the following information:

"Our special forces H.A.T., in cooperation with the General Security Service, were able to carry out a qualitative security operation that resulted in the arrest of three members of armed groups supported and funded by the Syrian regime, including a prominent leader named Abu Mishaal al-Bakri, north of Deir-ez-Zor yesterday afternoon, Friday.

Security sources explained that the arrested members were involved in targeting our forces, in addition to causing chaos and carrying weapons in the area. They indicated that these individuals had previously fled to areas controlled by the regime during the Enduring Security campaign, then infiltrated the area again with the aim of carrying out armed operations that threaten security and stability.

Our security services confirmed that the operation took place during a secret visit to the detainees' homes, where our forces were able to arrest them successfully. Initial investigations are currently being conducted with them in preparation for referring them to the judiciary to receive the legal punishment against them.

It is worth noting that the area that witnessed the arrests had been subjected to two explosions during the past week; the first targeted a civilian car, and the other a military vehicle, which resulted in martyrs and a number of injuries."
