Armed group kidnaps 3 citizens on Homs-Hama highway

An armed group kidnapped three citizens from Hama after targeting their car on the Homs-Hama highway, without any intervention from Damascus government forces present at the scene.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that an armed group targeted a private car on the Homs-Hama highway after midnight on Sunday-Monday, near the intersection of the eastern village of Al-Farhaniyah.

According to the Observatory, members of the group forced the driver of the car, along with two passengers, to stop before kidnapping them along with the vehicle and taking them to an unknown destination.

Sources indicate that local villagers did not dare approach the scene, and members of the "18th Division" checkpoint in the area did not intervene, allowing the kidnapping to take place in front of them without any noticeable response.

A source close to the kidnapped individuals from Hama confirmed that "security detachments and police stations have taken no steps to locate them," explaining that "their tasks are limited to filing a report from the families of the kidnapped and notifying them if the perpetrators are identified."

It is worth noting that areas under Damascus government control continue to witness kidnappings and citizen intimidation without accountability or oversight.
