In an exclusive statement to ANHA Agency, political analyst Hiwa Saeed Salimi said: “The decision made at the PKK’s 12th congress came in response to the demands of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan. After many years of struggle and armed conflict, the party’s decision is a historic and courageous one. It paves the way for a new phase based on democratic and political engagement grounded in the concept of the ‘democratic nation.’”

Salimi emphasized that the decision was not taken lightly or emotionally, but rather came within a “comprehensive political vision” laid out by leader Abdullah Ocalan. He added: “This decision is not something any party can make easily. It is a brave step taken apart from emotion, and it is a significant political decision that aligns with the new policy initiated by Mr. Abdullah Ocalan from Imrali.”

Salimi pointed out that the ball is now in the Turkish state’s court, stating: “The party had already put the ball in their court for the first time through Mr. Ocalan’s statement on February 27, and the second time through the historic decision and steps taken by the party during its 12th congress. This was a clear response to Abdullah Ocalan’s message.”

Salimi stressed the necessity for the Turkish state to take practical steps within legal and political frameworks to resolve the Kurdish issue, saying: “The Turkish state must now take practical steps to achieve peace within the legal and political framework for resolving the Kurdish issue in Turkey.”

Hiwa Saeed Salimi confirmed that the full responsibility now lies with the Turkish state, pointing out: “It is now the responsibility of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his ally Devlet Bahçeli to begin taking real steps to resolve the Kurdish issue.
