This morning, the medical staff at Al-Tal National Hospital in rural Damascus suspended the reception of non-emergency cases in protest of low salaries and insufficient government support for the hospital and its medical personnel, following similar protests by staff at al-Mouwasat Hospital in Damascus.

Al-Mouwasat Hospital recently witnessed protests at its entrance after the Ministry of Health of the Interim Government reduced salaries and failed to provide adequate support to the health sector. Medical staff expressed their discontent, stating that the new salaries are incompatible with the cost of living and do not reflect the responsibilities placed upon them.

The protesters called on the relevant authorities to reconsider the decision and improve conditions for healthcare workers, warning that the continued deterioration of living conditions could negatively affect the quality of medical services provided to patients.
