As part of ongoing efforts to enhance community engagement, Abdul Hamid al-Mahbash, co-chair of the Negotiating Committee for North and East Syria with the Syrian Transitional Government, held an expanded meeting today in the city of Tabqa. The meeting brought together a select group of residents from various segments and groups, including tribal sheikhs and dignitaries, representatives of institutions, community figures, political elites, human rights activists, and intellectuals.

The meeting aimed to shed light on the latest political developments and the progress of the negotiations with the transitional government, and to exchange views with the city's residents on key national issues. Al-Mahbash began his speech by providing a comprehensive overview of the general context of current events at the regional and international levels and their repercussions on the Syrian situation. He highlighted the unfortunate developments in Sweida Governorate and expressed his deep regret over these conflicts, which only benefit those with foreign agendas.

He emphasized that the Syrian people are the sole losers in such conflicts, while hostile forces thrive on continued instability.

In his remarks, Al-Mahbash condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Syrian territory, considering them "a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty and an attempt to weaken the Syrian national will at a sensitive moment in the country's political history."

He emphasized that all forms of foreign interference in Syrian affairs are unacceptable, whether military or political, and that the only way to end the Syrian crisis lies through intra-Syrian dialogue based on the principles of justice, pluralism, and recognition of the legitimate rights of all components.

During the meeting, Al-Mahbash reviewed the most important tracks proposed within the framework of the ongoing negotiations between the two negotiating delegations, emphasizing that the dialogue is proceeding in a positive and constructive spirit, and that efforts are underway to establish the rights of all components of the Syrian people.

He also emphasized that the negotiating committee seeks to formulate a just and comprehensive political solution that preserves Syria's unity, security, and stability, while ensuring recognition of Syria's ethnic, political, and administrative diversity. Betas

The attendees, in turn, expressed their unlimited support for the negotiating delegation representing them, stressing the need for continued coordination between the political leadership and the local community. They also extended their thanks and gratitude to international supporters, particularly the international coalition represented by the United States and France, for their continued role in supporting stability, strengthening dialogue processes, and contributing to the consolidation of a democratic model within the framework of a unified, pluralistic, and participatory Syria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Mahbash emphasized that the negotiating committee attaches utmost importance to the voice of the local community, and that direct meetings with residents of cities and regions constitute an essential part of the committee's work to ensure that the outcomes of the dialogue and negotiations with Damascus reflect the aspirations of the Syrian people, particularly in NE Syria.
