Al-Hajri attacks what he called "takfiri terrorist gangs" after Jaramana attack

Following events in the Syrian city of Jaramana, Sheikh Hikmat Salman Al-Hajri, spiritual leader of the Unitarian Muslims, condemned the killings of city residents by what Al-Hajri called "takfiri terrorist gangs." What occurred was "heinous acts of terrorism against harmless civilians," as he noted, because those behind the killing sought to divide the country, breed hostility, and spread murder, terrorism, and violence.

Al-Hajri also regretted what is happening in the country these days, wherein people are busy with one another and provoking one another, not to mention the treason campaigns and excommunication. He went on to say that whoever criticizes gets criminalized, and whoever stands for their rights gets attacked by some repulsive and rejected groups which try to identify themselves after a faction, movement, or orientation.

Responding to the dissemination of a recording defaming the Prophet Muhammad, Al-Hajri claimed that all the colors, religions, denominations, and sects that exist together in Syria possess authenticity, civilization, and sophistication which no one is supposed to defame. He also went on to state that the Unitarian community has always warned against defaming religions, beliefs, origins, and elders, by any party or person. He warned against the result of burning aflame sedition and its seekers, for its flame will consume everything.

Al-Hajri also emphasized that the Syrian people are even far from reaping the harvest of victory. No free and genuine popular conference has been held. No constitution has been drafted to satisfy the people's thirst to rectify and guide their ways. Nothing has been built on good foundations.

He also considered that "the country is still under the yoke of single-track ideology, exclusion, or imposition and disregard for what should be, as was the case under the former regime, whose corruption still overshadows the current performance. It is even deeper and more divisive in the current case, with its systematic sectarian undertones. This is what we Syrians reject, because it does not serve our common interest in building a state of law and citizenship. Where is the security we were promised in the face of continuous sectarian incitement without accountability, guidance, or condemnation by anyone?"

Al-Hajri also called for transitional justice to include accountability, fair division of labor, and fair transition without random vengeance or fabricated excuses for revolt, as is regrettably happening during this period of transition.

Al-Hajri also pointed out that the massacres already committed and still being committed, and

The insecurity prevailing in most places is not an accident, and calls for accountability of all past and future criminals, and criminality and inciting thereof to be brought to an end and nipped in the bud forever by fighting and eradicating their causes at the earliest.

Al-Hajri also denounced the new charges of treason at a time when we require solidarity and continued brotherhood and cooperation. We need each other and we must stand with each other on the freedom roads.

He said, "The principal government ministries are still gridlocked. Why? Why the clandestine decisions? What is the interim authority doing? What is going on there?"

He also called for unity, freedom, and love, but with the exception of cooperation with any exclusionary terrorist organization, regardless of what. He also called for suppressing terrorism, not condemning those who resist, accepting justifications, and halting sectarian incitement from all parties.

Al-Hajri concluded by saying, "The attacks on the components of society, and the popular and social cohesion, have crossed their limits, and history records this.". This is not something we are proud of as a civilized nation. There are crooked people in any environment, but we always insist on no one to speak on behalf of anyone. Every offender is individually responsible for his mistake, and does not represent anyone else, regardless of his belonging. We emphasize getting rid of such people and subjecting them to justice, and we condemn those who utilize these irresponsible acts in order to make terrorist activities appear legitimate through provocation and carrying out massacres against innocent civilians.
