Al-Assi: Turkish occupation attacks on NE Syria threaten whole world

 The Turkish occupation state continues to launch its attacks on the regions of NE Syria via drones and warplanes, it lately targeted 44 service, commercial and security centers within 48 hours.

The joint head of the Defense Office, Zaidan Al-Assi, said: “The Turkish aggression has continued since the establishment of the Autonomous Administration, but now, the Turkish occupation primary targets Syrian citizen."

Al-Assi stated, "There is an international consensus regarding the border areas and direct contact with the Turkish forces, and Russia and America were the guarantors of these agreements, through which the Syrian Democratic Forces removed all heavy weapons from the border for a distance of 30 km."

He explained, "What happened in the recent attacks was a direct attack on citizens' livelihoods by targeting oil, gas, drinking water, hospitals, and mills."

He stressed, "The Turkish occupation state is trying to attack the Autonomous Administration politically, economically and we saw how it targeted the security barriers, whose mission is to maintain the security of citizens and consolidate stability in the region. Striking the security barriers is a war crime, just like any targeting of civilians and infrastructure. It also allows terrorist groups to help ISIS mercenaries detained in prisons of NE Syria.

He added, "If any security failure occurs, a major catastrophe will occur to the entire year. The Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces fought ISIS mercenaries on behalf of the world, and today the world is watching the Turkish attacks."

Regarding international agreements in the regions of NE Syria, Al-Assi said: “There are agreements between us and the countries that guarantee not to violate these agreements, but Turkey violates the agreements repeatedly, while the Damascus government claims that it is concerned with defending Syrian territory and is sovereign, and it is still represented in the United Nations, but we did not find any reaction from any party, whether it was from the Damascus government, Russia, or America.”

 Al-Assi criticized the silence of the international coalition and the failure to express any position against these attacks and stressed that “Turkey is exploiting the world’s preoccupation with the Israeli-Palestinian war to carry out these attacks, and if there is no deterrent, it will escalate its attacks.”
