The Swedish court sentenced a 52-year-old woman to 12 years in prison for enslaving Yazidis.

The court stated in a statement that the accused woman detained Yazidi women, young girls, and children, and treated them as slaves in her home in Syria during the winter and spring of 2015.

She was convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity, and serious war crimes, noting that "her actions were part of a broader campaign launched by the extremist organization against the Yazidi minority."

The Yazidi community in Shengal was subjected to a brutal massacre known as the "74th Genocide" on August 3, 2014, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Yazidis. More than 6,000 women and children were kidnapped by ISIS mercenaries, sold in "slave markets," and exploited. The fate of hundreds of them remains unknown.
