9 Syrians killed, 6 Israeli soldiers injured in Damascus countryside

Nine people were killed and six Israeli soldiers were injured in an Israeli strike on the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside, Syria, following an Israeli army incursion into the area.

Pro-government media reported a ground incursion and airstrike on Beit Jinn in southern Damascus in the early hours of Friday.

The strikes resulted in the deaths of nine people in Beit Jinn, with Al-Ikhbariya channel stating that the attack came after an Israeli military patrol was surrounded during its incursion into Beit Jinn, leading to clashes with residents before the patrol withdrew.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that six of its soldiers, including three in critical condition, were injured during clashes in Beit Jinn.

Sky News reported a large-scale displacement of Beit Jinn residents following the Israeli attack.

Later, the Israeli army announced that it had carried out an operation to arrest suspects affiliated with the “Islamic Group,” based on intelligence gathered over the past weeks.

The army added in a statement that “the suspects operated in the Beit Jinn area and carried out terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.”
