Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that the number of children who have lost their lives due to malnutrition so far has reached 67, indicating that more than 650 children under the age of five are at serious and immediate risk of severe malnutrition in the coming weeks, out of a total of 1.1 million children in the Strip.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) quoted sources today as saying that "the tight blockade on the Gaza Strip has entered its 133rd consecutive day, since the Israeli occupation forces closed all crossings and prevented the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, in one of the most severe crimes of collective siege in modern times."

The sources confirmed that "the famine afflicting the Gaza Strip is intensifying day by day, with dozens of deaths recorded over the past three days due to shortages of food and essential medical supplies, in an extremely cruel humanitarian situation. The occupation is persisting in its crime by completely preventing the entry of flour, baby formula, and nutritional and medical supplies and supplements, as part of a systematic policy to starve the population, especially children, and deprive them of the most basic necessities of life."

They added that "about 1.25 million people in Gaza are currently experiencing catastrophic hunger, while 96 percent of the population suffers from severe levels of food insecurity, including more than one million children. This is a shocking reality that reflects the scale of the unprecedented humanitarian tragedy in Gaza."
