Three days have passed since the official deadline for the Fact-Finding Commission in Syria expired, with no official statement or report on the findings of the investigation into the coastal massacres. This comes amidst a suspicious international silence and the clear disregard of relevant parties that had previously welcomed the formation of the commission.

The commission, whose formation was announced by a decision from Ahmed al-Sharaa on March 10, was tasked with investigating the massacres that occurred between March 7 and 9, which claimed the lives of 1,682 people in 63 documented massacres, according to documentation by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Despite the passage of the specified deadline without any official announcement or publication of the investigation's results, the transitional government in Syria continues to remain silent, raising serious questions about the credibility of the committee's work and the transitional government's intention to address the issue of violations against civilians.

Observers fear that the committee was formed for political purposes aimed at containing popular anger without any genuine intention to achieve justice.

Since the committee's formation, the Syrian Observatory has documented the killing of 542 people, including women and children, across the country. This reflects the ongoing violence and widespread impunity, undermining Syrians' hopes for a transitional period based on accountability and transparency.

Additional questions are being raised about the transitional government's seriousness in its investigations, especially after the swift identification of the perpetrators of the bombing of Mar Elias Church in the Douweila neighborhood within hours, in contrast to the complete mystery surrounding one of the most violent massacres in the country's history
