4,500 IDP families arrive in Jazera Canton

This morning, a delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Jazera Canton visited the shelter centers for forcibly displaced individuals from Afrin and Shahba in the city of Hasaka, who were displaced due to the attacks by Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries.

The delegation consisted of the co-chairs of the Executive Council of the Jazera Canton, Hassan Sharo and Vivian Baho, the co-chairs of the Democratic Peoples' Council, Hikmat Habib and Arya Mala Ahmad, along with advisor Shahnaz Sharif and the co-chair of the Media Directorate, Hawker Najar.

Inspection of Shelters and Providing Support

The visit covered the gathering center for forcibly displaced individuals at Panorama housing and other centers where the displaced people have been distributed throughout the city. During the visit, representatives of the Autonomous Administration emphasized making every effort to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and to overcome the current challenges.

In an interview with ANHA agency, Arya Mala Ahmad, co-chair of the Democratic Peoples' Council, stated, "The accelerating challenges in Syria have affected the speed at which the needs of the forcibly displaced can be met."

She confirmed that the purpose of their visit was to assess the shortcomings in the temporary shelter centers and listen to the demands and needs of the residents. She also noted that the visits would continue to ensure that the conditions of the displaced are improved and their basic needs are met.

Statistics on the Number of Forcibly Displaced Individuals

For her part, Zahra Samo, co-chair of the Workers' Affairs Body in the Jazera Canton, explained that the number of displaced families that arrived in Jazera Canton reached 4,500 families, who were distributed across 23 temporary shelter centers.

She pointed out that the number of arrivals is still steadily increasing, requiring additional efforts to secure their basic needs.

It is also noted that more than 100,000 forcibly displaced individuals from Afrin and Shahba, as well as from Aleppo and the countryside of Hama, have arrived in various areas of the North and East Syria region.
