August 15 marks the annual anniversary of the Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) declaration of armed struggle under the leadership of the martyr Agid (Masum Korkmaz) in 1984 against the Turkish occupation. On this occasion, the residents of the Zurava neighborhood in Damascus held a celebration.

The event began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs' souls. Then, Hasan Mohammed, member of the Democratic Union Party, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that "the August 15 Uprising was a leap toward the liberation of oppressed peoples, especially the Kurdish people. Therefore, they will not be able to erase our identity and exterminate us, as the results of this leap are still ongoing with the efforts of fighters on all fronts against the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."

He stressed, "This day marks the beginning of the Kurdish people's liberation of their will and their commitment to resistance to achieve a free society that believes in the ideology and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan. We will continue on the path of the martyr Agid and his resistance."

The celebration included participants forming Kurdish dance circles to the tunes of revolutionary songs.
