4 people killed by war remnant landmines in Homs and Deir ez-Zor

Four people, including two brothers, lost their lives due to the explosion of two landmines left behind from the war in the cities of Homs and Deir ez-Zor.

The two brothers lost their lives when a landmine from the war remnants exploded in the town of Umm al-Amad in eastern rural Homs.

Additionally, two individuals from the town of Al-Shamitiya lost their lives after a landmine exploded while they were herding sheep in the Bishri desert, south of Deir ez-Zor.

The number of civilian casualties caused by unexploded landmines, which are scattered across vast areas of Syrian territory, continues to rise. This is happening amid the inaction of organizations and local authorities and the absence of sufficient efforts to remove them, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Since the beginning of 2025, the number of civilians who have lost their lives due to explosions of war remnants in Syria has reached 138, according to the Observatory’s documentation. Among them are 26 children and six women. Additionally, 170 others have been injured, including 79 children.
