With the aim of reinforcing the communes' role in community governance and organization, Al-Shaddadi City Council in Jazira canton organized the first commune conference in the council hall, attended by representatives of communes and civil and military institutions in the city.

The conference began with holding a minute of silence, followed by reading the political directives by Hussam al-Ta'an, the member of the Council's Affairs Office, who highlighted the leader Abdullah Ocalan's vision for peace and building a democratic society.

Aldar Khalil, the member of the Democratic Union Party's Co-Chairmanship, spoke during the conference about the general political situation, stressing on the importance of negotiation as a means to achieve sustainable peace and protect the rights of the people of North and East Syria.

Khalil expressed his appreciation for the sacrifices made by the martyrs, which paved the way for a free and dignified life for people. He added that the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria is far from the authoritarian system and racism, and aims to foster co-existence among all components, while external forces, such as the Turkish authorities, seek to destabilize the region.

Al-Shaddadi City Council's member Hassen al-Mukhlef also delivered a speech, in which he addressed the challenges facing the commune, including societal mentality towards women and the failure to implement the principle of joint presidency. He proposed strengthening the role of commune committees, appointing administrative offices, training co-presidencies, and restructuring commune members to improve their performance.

For his part, Hassen Shero, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in Jazira canton, called for greater coordination and joint action, emphasizing the importance of activating the role of communes in effectively serving citizens.

The conference concluded with discussions that included proposals to improve the performance of communes, including organizing intellectual courses, strengthening the role of women within tribal contexts, opening commune offices to facilitate their work, and providing moral and administrative support to address societal challenges, with the goal of enhancing communes' interaction with the people.
