The Ministry of Interior in the Syrian Transitional Administration announced the death of 14 of its forces after they were ambushed by "forces of the former regime" in rural Tartous.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 17 people were killed in clashes in the coastal province of Tartous after "security forces" attempted to arrest a military officer who held positions during the rule of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.

The Observatory stated in a report that "14 members of the Public Security Forces" and "3 militants" were killed in Khirbet al-Maaza, where the militants confronted the security forces as they attempted to arrest an officer who had served as Director of Military Judiciary, Head of the Field Court, and one of those responsible for crimes at Saydnaya Prison.
