Female fighter became source of struggle, will for all revolutionaries

"Today we are witnessing a more critical phase again, so every Kurd must realize the requirements of the phase and engage in this war. We must not forget that this may be our only chance throughout history, and if we do not take advantage of this opportunity well, we will turn into a tool in everyone's hands."

The great fighter Sama Yuja issued this warning 25 years ago, and today marks the anniversary of her martyrdom, and her warnings are still fresh in our minds.

The multiple attacks continued against the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and the leader during 1998, and signs of large plots involving several regional and international forces that were to be implemented later appeared gradually, and in return, the struggle escalated and the resistance against attacks and their various forms were strengthened, and new pages were added to the history of The struggle for freedom and the beginning of new eras. The vanguard fighters and revolutionaries, especially the women among them, determined the form and character of the struggle.

The fighter in the PKK, the fighter Sama Yuja (Sarhildan-Laila), who was detained at the time in the Turkish Janak Qala prison, showed with her operation that the human will can overcome the most difficult circumstances and prevail in them.

In the letters she wrote to the leader Abdullah Ocalan, the Kurdish people, her revolutionary comrades, and her family, Yuja shed light on the dangers, the method of struggle for victory and overcoming these dangers, after which a new era begins with her effectiveness.

In her letter that she wrote to the leader Abdullah Ocalan, Sama showed her potential, philosophy and ideology as the ideology of the leader Ocalan, as she said, "Just as two suns cannot shine in the sky, women cannot have two sources of morale."

In the same message, the fighter Sama shed light on the plots of the occupiers, saying: "The enemy is seeking at the present time to stop our great human march, and the Turkish leadership is seeking to liquidate our struggle in the name of "marginalization", and its implementation depends on internal betrayal. This scheme considers the Kurdish agents and their arms within our struggle a social ground, and its aim is to limit the contemporary human march that started from the cradle of humanity in Mesopotamia and reached the mountains and cities of Kurdistan one by one.

Yuja referred to the path of struggle in her message, saying: "But the Kurdish women received the instructions of leader Apo and showed that they will not be tools for the enemy's dirty goals." And March 21. I want to burn as Zakia and turn to Newroz-Kharshan, to be a worthy disciple of Kawa, Mazlum Dogan and all our other martyrs, and I want to follow resolutely in the footsteps of our other comrades and comrades Berivan, Ronahi, Mirza Muhammad and the footsteps of those who turned to Newroz. Women have the power of life and the power of victory and that they can be companions with holy effectiveness.

The reason for my desire for this is to strip holiness from all its well-known definitions and shout that (holiness) is the sincerity of simple people who have big dreams.I have thought a lot about the activities of our martyrs whom I want to follow in their footsteps, and I found that these activities are the ability of people to overcome themselves. After making this decision, I went through many inner battles. Finally, I identified and defeated the discriminatory power of all human weaknesses in my character. My attachment to a free life and a free woman dictates this to me now I understand better that my oath of fidelity to leader Apo is to be reduced to ashes in the fire of this fidelity and to be reborn from this ashes. I have the strength to offer my heart."

A message to the people to preserve their existence today as well

Yuja addressed this message to her comrades: "The thought of leader Apo and the advice of Comrade Zilan have guided us to the path we have to take, and it is our duty to understand and implement it. Our fellow martyrs have proven with their sacred operations that this is possible. Let us know how to learn from them and fight for great aspirations."

Effectiveness and resonance

Sama Yuja set her body on fire inside Janak Qala prison, on the eve of Newroz in 1998 (March 21), and she was severely burned. She was treated at Cerrah Pasha Hospital, Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University for three months, but she rose to the rank of martyrdom on June 17 of the same year.

The attacks on the Kurdistan Liberation Movement are continued after the martyrdom of Sama Yuja, as the international conspiracy was launched against the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and on the other hand, millions in the four parts of Kurdistan and outside it rose up together for the first time.

On the night of the launch of the conspiracy (October 9, 1998), events "You will not be able to block our sun" were launched from Maraş prison in Bakur Kurdistan (Northern Kurdistan), and extended to where the Kurds are located all over the world. People of other nationalities and nations also participated in these activities, more than a hundred revolutionaries set their bodies on fire, and 60 revolutionaries were martyred.

Fikri Beikaldi, who was carried out in Maraş prison, described the first activity in his message. Sama became a leader while he described himself as a student, and the great fighter became a source of strength and will for all the people and revolutionaries.
