​​​​​​​95% of the aid of "Hope in Your Giving" initiative distributed in NE, Syria- Aleppo

On April 11, the Kurdish Red Crescent launched the "Hope in Your Giving" campaign to collect zakat al-Fitr, in coordination with communes and councils, and turn it into aid for distribution to the displaced from occupied Afrin living in al-Shahba canton, and to distribute 1,000 food baskets to families of people of high motivation in NE, Syria.

Helping earthquake victims

The initiative to collect zakat al-Fitr, which will continue until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, came to help needy families, especially those affected by the earthquake in al-Shahba district, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo, with sums of money, according to Kurdish Red Crescent member Dilkesh Issa.

The initiative, which was launched from the city of Qamishlo, in coordination with the Nudem Organization for Rehabilitation and Sustainable Human Development for People with Special Needs and the Qamishlo Council, included the distribution of 100 food baskets in every city and district of NE, Syria.

An effective turnout of the people

Regarding the people’s attitude towards this campaign, Issa said: “The people actively participated in the Zakat al-Fitr campaign, as in other humanitarian campaigns launched by the Kurdish Red Crescent before now.” He added: “The Kurdish Red Crescent launches assistance campaigns annually in coordination with councils and institutions, especially in blessed month of Ramadan".

Dilkesh Issa confirmed that the Kurdish Red Crescent will continue its projects to help those in need in the region, whether in terms of health or otherwise, especially within the camps for the displaced, by distributing medicines in coordination with the institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and he said: "As for launching aid campaigns, it depends on the situation our people are witnessing." And what he is going through, and we are always ready to help our people in the region.”

Extend the distribution period

A member of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Dilkesh Issa, drew attention to the reasons for the delay in the distribution of aid in all regions of NE,Syria, and stated: "The weather conditions and the heavy rains that the region witnessed recently led to the suspension of aid distribution for several days, which led to a delay in the end of the campaign on time.”

It was scheduled to distribute all food baskets until April 15, but as a result of the aforementioned circumstances, the specified period was extended for several more days.
