Şlêr Committee denounces Turkey's exploitation of earthquake to kidnap children

The recent earthquake that struck Bakur and Turkey, and affected large areas of Syria, revealed the extent of rampant corruption in the institutions of the fascist Turkish state, and raised several question marks about the way the Justice and Development Party and Turkish President Erdogan dealt with this disaster.

Recently, many children who survived the February 6 earthquake were handed over to some houses of religion, owners of Islamic paths, and the mafia.

This issue attracts the attention of public opinion in Bakur Kurdistan, and raises great popular discontent.

In this context, the Şlêr Committee for Child Protection made a statement to the public opinion in Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi School, east of the city of Qamishlo, in the presence of more than 800 students.

The statement was read in both Kurdish and Arabic by the student, Ahmed Hussein Omar.

At the outset, the statement read, "First, we offer our condolences to all the families, and we wish a speedy recovery to all the injured, due to the earthquake that occurred in Bakur Kurdistan and parts of Syria, this earthquake that destroyed homes and buildings and claimed the lives of thousands of people."

The statement added "This horrific incident opened the way for the Turkish government to show its hidden hatred for the Kurds. It worked to save the children from under the rubble and did not hand them over to their families. It smuggled them and handed them over to some houses of religion, owners of Islamic paths, and the mafia."

Noting that "every day hundreds of Kurdish and Alevi children are trafficked, and no information about them."

The statement stated, "The fanatical Turkish thought and the barbaric Turkish religious policy seeks to erase the Kurdish presence and work to annihilate the Kurdish culture and history, through our children who will grow up under the roof of the fascist Turkish thought, far from their culture and language, with the aim of exterminating the Kurds and their existence."

The Şlêr Committee concluded its statement by saying, " let us be one hand, voice, and word against the tyranny of injustice and oppression that applies to our people, and we do not accept the end of the culture of our society, our sects, and great history." Your sorrow is our grief, and your joy is our joy.
