Bashar al-Assad visits the Sultanate of Oman

The Syrian presidency said that "President Bashar al-Assad visited the Sultanate of Oman, where he and the official delegation accompanying him were received at the Royal Private Airport by Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman."

Al-Assad and Haitham bin Tariq held an official session of talks at Al-Baraka Palace in Muscat, in the presence of the 2 official delegations.

A statement by the Syrian Presidency said, "His Majesty the Sultan renewed his condolences to President Al-Assad and the Syrian people for the victims of the devastating earthquake, stressing his country's continuation of its support for Syria to overcome the effects of the earthquake and the repercussions of the war and the siege imposed on the Syrian people, noting at the same time that Oman feels the difficult conditions that the Syrians live in because of this crisis."

It emphasized that Al-Assad expressed "his deep thanks to His Majesty the Sultan, the government and the Omani people for their solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic and for sending relief aid, noting that the greatest thanks is for Oman's standing by Syria during the terrorist war against it."

The two sides discussed "developments of the situation on the regional and international arenas and efforts aimed at supporting and enhancing security and stability in the region, where President Al-Assad considered that Oman has always maintained its balanced policies, and that the region now needs more the role of the Sultanate of Oman to serve the interests of its people in order to strengthen relations between Arab countries on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in the affairs of other countries."

For his part, the Sultan of Oman said, "Syria is a brotherly Arab country, and we look forward that its relations with all Arab countries return to natural context."
