​​​​​​​Where does the aid provided to the Damascus government go?

A number of well-informed sources in the Aleppo governorate, in the areas controlled by the Damascus government, reported that the government agencies concerned with receiving aid during the past days received hundreds of aid shipments and directed them to the production market square in Aleppo, located in the "Al-Mohafaza" neighborhood, after the stores of Aleppo International Airport were full.

The same sources said that the aid has not yet been distributed, but is being stored in the production market, knowing that more than a week after the earthquake occurred.

It said that if the distribution took place at some points, it would be based on connections and acquaintances, far from fair distribution through the committees.

As for the source of the aid, the sources confirmed that it is from different sources, including from Iran, Algeria and a number of other countries such as Iraq, which consisted of foodstuffs and medical supplies that came directly to the people of Aleppo.

Many activists on social media have questioned the reason for the storage after all this time has passed, in light of accusations against Damascus government officials of selling relief aid on the black market, after the pictures were spread on virtual media.

Although the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh suffered severe damage, whether human or material, the two neighborhoods located in Aleppo governorate did not receive any aid from the aid that went to the neighborhoods of Aleppo.

Thousands of residents of the two neighborhoods sleep in the wilderness as a result of the lack of tents provided in light of the continued siege imposed by the Fourth Division of the Damascus government.

While the Kurdish Red Crescent is the only relief agency that worked to support the two neighborhoods in terms of providing emergency and other aid, it is not sufficient.

It is noteworthy that about 150 buildings were damaged in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh as a result of the earthquake and are threatened with collapse at any moment, in light of the Fourth Division of the Damascus government preventing the passage of any machineries that contribute to demolitions within the policies of imposing the siege.
