Al Domani: Any initiative that does not include Resolution 2254 is rejected

Syrian Democratic Council SDC and the Syrian National Alliance had revealed, during a press conference held in the city of Qamishlo on January 10, a joint action plan, but they did not specify the terms of that plan.

Commenting on this, the Secretary-General of the Syrian National Coalition, Aram Al-Domani, said, "We see the movements of the Syrian Democratic Council as positive, as it is based on a political solution in accordance with international resolutions issued by the Security Council and the United Nations, away from any attempts to circumvent these decisions, in addition to their desire to be a partner, not a monopoly on the solution." And they act according to these visions and principles, which for us are positive and serve the aspirations and visions of the Syrian people.”

And he continued in the same context, "Yes, for us as an alliance, we see a project suitable and suitable for the future of Syria, the model of decentralized federal governance that reinforce the role of civil society in the authorities, and also enhances the role of political life that has been absent for nearly 70 years."

Regarding the coalition's vision to resolve the Syrian crisis, Al-Doumani explained, "The coalition's vision is clear. There is no political solution without implementing International Resolution 2,254, which stipulates the formation of a transitional governing body with full powers. Any political solution or other regional initiative does not include this resolution, as it is a circumvention of it and a way to reinforce al-Assad regime." For us, it is unacceptable.

Al-Domani spoke about the points of intersection with the Syrian Democratic Council, saying, "The Syrian National Alliance agrees with the Syrian Democratic Council on Syria as a united country with sovereignty over all its geographical and natural borders, an independent federal state with democratic decentralized administration, a civil state that separates religion from politics and respects all nationalities, religions, and sects." And sects alike, drafting a modern, modern constitution to be written on Syrian soil after the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2,254.

And relevant international resolutions, provided that the Syrian people of all sects and components ratify them in a way that guarantees basic rights and freedoms and a culture of citizenship and belonging, preserving the democratic and constitutional system in Syria and its territorial integrity and independence, preparing a free and fair constitutional and legal environment that guarantees the civil rights of the Syrian people in all its sects.

A joint committee between the coalition and SDC

Regarding the future of relations between the two sides in the future, and the joint action plan that will be worked on, he said, "The relations are not a result of the moment, but rather an old relationship between us and the Syrian Democratic Council, and through our continuous communication and discussion of visions, goals and constants, we saw that there is consensus and openness in the visions for that We have taken a step to strengthen and deepen the relationship. The action plan will be determined entirely through a joint committee between the Syrian National Alliance and the Syrian Democratic Council.

But the most important thing in it is supporting joint political efforts to end the suffering of the Syrians and reach an inevitable political solution that leads us to the future Syria. Salvation is only in the unity and solidarity of the Syrians themselves. We must not be dragged behind the international and regional agenda. Our agenda must be national for the future of the Syrian territorial integrity.
