ISIS cell is linked to attack on Ql-Raqqa, arrested

The Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of an ISIS cell in connection with the attack that targeted the center of power in the city of Raqqa, and seized materials for making explosives.

According to the Media Center of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria, the arrest of the cell took place on Monday, January 9.

It pointed out that the follow-up and pursuit of ISIS cells was launched based on security information and proven evidence obtained by the Internal Security Forces in Raqqa, "where the General Security Service was able to arrest five people, belonging to a cell that provided assistance to the terrorist cell that targeted the western center of our forces in Raqqa, on December 26, 2022.”

The media center confirmed that the cell that was arrested was working in the manufacture of explosives and mines of various types with remote control devices, and they were planning to carry out terrorist acts, to undermine stability in the city.

During the operations, the Internal Security Forces seized a huge amount of basic materials that are used in making explosives, most of which are electrical and electronic, in addition to more than 50 explosive detonators, more than 240 laser mine sensors, cell phones, and portable laptops. More than 250 electronic circuits prepared for detonation were also seized.
