Iranian state carries out second execution linked to popular protests

On Monday, Roj News Agency reported that the Iranian state has carried out the second execution linked to nearly three months of ongoing anti-regime protests in Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran.

Majidreza Rahnavard was hanged in city of Mashhad after being convicted of killing two members of the security forces, the judicial news agency Mizan reported.

According to Official Media on Thursday December 8, the Iranian state executed a man convicted of stabbing a member of the Basij forces in the first execution related to the protests that have been going on for nearly three months in Rojhelat, Iran.

At the time, the Iranian news agency "IRNA" said, "Mohsen Shakari, the rioter who crossed Sattar Khan Street in Tehran, last September 25, and stabbed a Basij member in the left shoulder, was executed Thursday morning, in the Iranian capital."

The Rojhilat of Kurdistan and Iran have been witnessing a wave of widespread protests since mid-September, under the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azdaî", sparked by killing of the 22-year-old Kurdish woman, Gina Amini by Morality Police in Tehran.
