​​​​​​​Bedran Çiya Kurd: Damascus Government mentality exacerbates suffering of Syrian people

The co-chair of the Department of External Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Bedran Çiya Kurd, spoke to ANHA’s agency about the siege imposed by the Damascus government on the al-Shahba area and the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.

He referred to the steadfastness of the people in both the al-Shahba region and the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and stated that their insistence on staying in their homes despite the siege and difficult circumstances calls for respect.

Tightening the blockade is a crime against humanity'

Bedran Çiya Kurd pointed out that the Damascus government has besieged these areas for years and put obstacles in front of the people, but the siege policy creates serious obstacles and difficulties that reach the level of stopping life, and this is a crime against humanity, and he continued his speech, saying: "We can never accept the regime's policy in this way. We are trying to solve this problem, and if this does not succeed, we will take the necessary positions and measures. It is not possible for us to accept that our people remain confined to a difficult situation before our eyes."

Bedran Çiya Kurd continued his speech, referring to the mentality adopted by the Damascus government towards the people of the region, and made it clear that the Damascus government must realize that all of Syria suffers from major living, political and economic problems.

He stated that the peoples in Syria need each other, so it is necessary for them to stand as one alliance against common goals such as the Turkish occupation. An understanding must be reached on this basis so that they can also liberate the occupied areas, and he continued his speech, saying: "But unfortunately, we do not see any valuable and remarkable national position on the part of the Damascus government. Although the attacks launched by the occupation recently resulted in the loss of a number of soldiers of the Syrian army to their lives, However, we have not yet seen any position from her.

'Damascus seeks to make us suffer'

Bedran Çiya Kurd explained that the silence of the Damascus government on the Turkish occupation attacks is explained in many ways, and he said: "Either it seeks to please Turkey behind the scenes, or it expects that the Turkish attacks will clamp down on us and make us suffer, and therefore we will retreat in favor of the Damascus government, give up our achievements and hand over everything for the regime. If it thinks in this way, then it is mistaken, and it is not possible for us to take such a position. We have achieved these achievements thanks to the blood of thousands of martyrs, and we will do everything necessary to preserve these achievements."

We consider ourselves responsible for putting an end to the suffering of the Syrians.

The co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Bedran Çiya Kurd, stated that they have expressed many times their position on the current situation in Syria, and that they are ready for dialogue and cooperation in combating terrorism and standing against the Turkish occupation state and liberating the occupied areas. "Damascus positively believes that there is no opposing party to negotiate with and conclude a political agreement with. We consider ourselves responsible for reducing the suffering of the Syrians. We are ready to be part of the solution."
