IDPs: The Damascus government will not be able to undermine our resistance through the siege

The IDPs of Afrin, who live in the camps, affirmed that resistance is the most effective way to overcome the siege and the dirty policies practiced against them, stressing, "The siege will not undermine our will."

For 5 years, Damascus government imposed an unjust siege on Shahba Canton, and has been practicing a policy of starvation against the IDPs and indigenous people of the region, by preventing the entry of fuel, foodstuffs, and medicines into the Canton.

For the second month in a row, the government is preventing the entry of basic materials into the Shahba Canton in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which foreshadows a humanitarian catastrophe in the coming days, and the international powers and humanitarian organizations concerned with refugee rights turning a blind eye to this suffering.

With the onset of winter, the suffering of the IDPs from Afrin in the camps and semi-destroyed houses increases, due to the lack of heating fuel for 2 months, gas for more than 20 days, food and medicines at medical points and hospitals.

Bashar Khamis said, "For 5 years, we have been suffering from difficult living conditions in the camps, as a result of the Damascus government's siege."

Khamis pointed out that "the Democratic Autonomous Administration works with all its capacity to provide a decent life for the IDPs and the people and secure their supplies, but this aid does not meet the needs of the citizens, as a result of the closure of the roads leading to the Canton," noting that "we suffer from the lack of fuel and medicines, and with the onset of winter, we need supplies and equipment to restore the tents in order to protect us from the winter cold."

As for Shahnaz Koleko, she said, "The siege imposed by the Damascus government on the region ;increases their suffering, with the spread of diseases among children in light of the lack of medicines, food and fuel.

Shahnaz called on "international and human rights organizations to put pressure on the Damascus government to lift the siege on the district and allow the entry of humanitarian aid."

Also, Faeq Habib, he said, "We were displaced from our homes to the areas of Shahba and we live within the plastic camps and the homes almost destroyed, and we organized ourselves and overcame the dominant policies and powers that tried to eliminate us."

Habib stressed that "the agreements that take place between Russia, Iran, Turkey and the government of Damascus are to eliminate the people of NE Syria, and the evidence for that is the unjust siege imposed by the Damascus government on the IDPs of Afrin."
