Highlights in life of late Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi

 Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi bin Al-Asi Al-Jarba was born in 1936 in the village of Tal Alo in the Qamishlo canton, the Jazira region. He is the sheikh of the sheikhs of the Shammar tribe in Syria.

 After the establishment of the Autonomous Administration in the region in 2014, Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi held the position of joint governor of the region. The tribe, under his leadership, played a prominent role in the campaigns against ISIS mercenaries in Al-Jazirah region in particular and NE Syria in general.

 Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi established the Al-Sanadid Forces after the Syrian crisis, and ISIS entered the southern areas of Girkê Legê, Tel Koçber and Çil Agha, and joined the Syrian Democratic Forces, which was established in October 2015.

 The Al-Sanadid Forces, formed by the late Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi, also played a major role in defending the Şengal district during the ISIS mercenary attack on the district on August 3, 2014.

The Shammar tribe has a close relationship with the Kurdish people in Syria and Iraq, and with the rest of the components of the region, especially the Yezidi community and the Syriac-Armenian component.  Among his most famous sayings: "We and the Kurds are partners through thick and thin. There are common historical battles between us, Arab + Kurdish = victory."  He also includes: “We, the Kurds, Christians and Yazidis are brothers of the soil.”

 Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham is considered one of the well-known social figures in Al-Jazeera, Syria and Iraq. He has preserved tribal customs and traditions in the region, experienced several periods in Syria, and visited many Arab countries such as Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

 Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi sought to consolidate social relations between all components of NE Syria, especially after the Syrian crisis.

 Sheikh Hamidi Al-Daham Al-Hadi died yesterday, Thursday, in southern Kurdistan, at the age of 86.
