Anniversary of Qamishlo massacre: Danger of more massacres by the Turkish state

On the occation of the 6th anniversary of the Qamishlo massacre carried out by ISIS terrorists, there are more threats and a real danger of more bloody massacres being carried out by the Turkish state along with a new occupation. Hikmet Habib states that the aim of those attacks is to massacre the people of the region.

QAMISHLO

Before the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the territorial defeat of ISIS, the ISIS terrorists carried out a massacre in Qamishlo city.

The Qamishlo massacre was carried out in the most brutal way by ISIS terrorists on July 27, 2016.

This gruesome massacre was carried out by a bomb-ladden vehicle and resulted in the martyrdom of 62 people and further injuring more than 176 people in the city.

`IT WAS A DIFFICULT TIME FOR THE PEOPLE OF NORTH AND EAST SYRIA`

Hikmet Habib, co-chair of the Legislative Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Al-Jazira Region, stated that the explosion came as a big shock for the people of the region.

Regarding this period, Habib stated: “The terrorist organizations attempted to disrupt the region`s security by the use of explosions. After they were weakened and lost the control they previosly had, and after SDF liberated the region, it is clear and obvious that the AKP government supported the ISIS terrorists in carrying out such attacks with explosions.”

According to Habib, the people of North and East Syria went through difficult times, and further stated that: “ These terrorist organizations have spread to different regions. They want to scare the people by carrying out massacres. They wanted to draw the people`s attention away from their democratic project.”

`WITH THE PEOPLE`S DETERMINATION, THE PERPETRATORS OF THE MASSACRES WERE DEFEATED`

The people of the region stood side by side with SDF and ensured the territorial defeat of ISIS, despite ISIS`s crimes and brutal massacres against the people. After the liberation of Baghouz on March 23, 2019, the territorial defeat of ISIS was announced.

Hikmet Habib stated: “ The people of the region were able to overcome this difficult period due to their will and determination. Together, they liberated the region from terrorism and started the project of rebuilding the region and to create their autnomous administrations with great a great level of determination.”

Habib continued: “When we evaluate the regıon`s situation from that perioed, we see that the process of rebuilding and liberation was at the forefront. Despite ISIS having backing and support from the AKP government, all regions were liberated from the ISIS terrorists.”

After the Qamishlo massacre, the SDF released an official statement and announced a special operation carried out by the Anti Terror Units (YAT), resulted in the responsible of the massacre being killed in Deir Ezor.

DANGERS OF NEW MASSACRES BY THE TURKISH OCCUPATION

Hikmet Habib continued by saying: “The regions in North and East Syria are now facing a new attack by the Turkish occupation, especially regarding the defeat of AKP in Syria, in terms of killings and explosions”

Hikmet pointed out that the Turkish occupation state attempts to revive ISIS by carrying out more attacks against North and East Syria. Hikmet said:” The Turkish occupation state attempts to give ISIS, which are now currently in the Roj Camp and prisons, the possibility of reorganizing themselves in North East Syria by carrying out more attacks.

`WE STAY COMMITTED TO ENSURING STABILITY`

Hikmet pointed out that the people`s will and determination in North and East Syria are stronger than the attacks they are subjected to. He stated:” We believe that this democratic project will continue with unity among the people and ensure stability and to prevent such further attacks with exlosives.”

Hikmet Habib, co-chair of the Legislative Council of Al-Jazira Region, called out to the familys of the martyrs from the Qamishlo massacre and entire North and East Syria and said: “ We renew our promise to create a democratic and free society where all components can live togheter as equals in peace. We salute SDF`s resistance in protecting our democratic project and the basis for creating a national army for Syria in its entirety and the solution of the country`s crises.”
