 Al-Hasakah - Hanar Ibrahim

With the 40th anniversary of the July 14 resistance, in the face of the policies of the Turkish occupation state, the Turkish authorities continue their tyrannical, arbitrary and repressive policy against the peoples of Turkey and the general revolutionary peoples yearning for freedom, through their continuous wars and their military and political targeting, in addition to the daily arrests of revolutionaries, politicians and parliamentarians.

A summary of what the revolutionary fighter Sarbast Mulla Rashid Saeed has experienced in the prisons of the Turkish occupation state, over the course of 30 years of detention, shows part of what those prisons witnnesses in terms of human rights violations, crimes on a daily basis against detainees, and the continuous resistance that erupted from the prison of the city of Amed  on July 14, 1982.

Who is the revolutionary fighter Saeed?

Sarbast Saeed was born in the city of Al-Hasakah in 1952, and belongs to a patriotic family committed to the Kurdish cause, in the city of Al-Hasakah.

He began his revolutionary career as an affiliated member of the Communist Party, before traveling to Saudi Arabia in 1982 getting known to the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, and some cadres of the Kurdistan Workers Party in 1983.

He joined the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in 1983, and began the revolutionary work, realizing what the PKK seeks, and what needs to be done to solve the Kurdish Cause, and being influenced by the history of Kurdistan and the resistance that was shown in order to liberate the Kurds from oppression and oppression, he joined the ranks of the Peoples Defense Forces in 1990.

During the first 7 years of his revolutionary career in Syria, Sarbast Saeed was arrested so many times by the Damascus government that he could not remember the number of arrests;  Because of its abundance, while telling his story, "I was arrested on a daily basis. I was arrested in the morning and released in the evening."

The prisons of the Syrian regime did not differ from the prisons of the Turkish occupation state

What was happening in the Syrian prisons, did not differ from what Sarbast Saeed witnessed in the detention centers and prisons of the Turkish occupation state of violations and crimes committed against the detainees there, according to what he indicated, “The Syrian regime was committing the worst violations and crimes against us in order to weaken our will to abandon our cause.

Because of the tightening of the screws on Sarbast Saeed, and his continuous pursuit, he preferred to move to a new arena of struggle far from Syria, specifically to the city of Amed in Bakur Kurdistan.  He demanded it after he and his companions, who numbered 73 people, completed a military and intellectual training course at the Martyr Masoum Korkmaz Academy, which was supervised by leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Sarbst says about his joining: "When I met the leader after training, I promised him that I would go to Amid and continue the struggle there, and complete the path of resistance. At that time, I was very impressed with the leader's thought and philosophy, so I fulfilled the promise with a group of party members, and we stayed for a year and a half."

Sarbast was arrested in the Mosh district of Bakur Kurdistan, on May 17, 1992, and released last May.

Torture, violations and crimes he witnessed during his 30 years of detention

He and his fellow detainees in the detention centers of the Turkish occupation state were subjected to the most severe types of torture, from exposing them naked to the freezing cold and burying them in the snow, beating with sticks, electrocution, and isolating them in small solitary rooms that cannot accommodate a person, according to what Sarbst.

And about what he was exposed to, he said, "The atmosphere of the Mosh area in Bakur Kurdistan was characterized by extreme cold, and heavy snowfall. We were without clothes in the courtyards of Turkish prisons and prisons for months. We were beaten with sticks, broken bones, and whipped in those cold conditions. We were also subjected to electric shocks.  And isolation in very narrow solitary rooms.”

He added, "We were beaten every day, with sticks and butts of weapons, to get information. They put us - and 7 of my revolutionary friends - in a small cell that only accommodates one person, for 59 days, during which we went on hunger strike, and we used to vomit blood from the severity of the torture."

He pointed out that they were subjected to beatings and torture in the courts, and the absence of their right to defend themselves in the courts of the Turkish occupation state, in addition to crimes in detention and prisons. "Within the courts, during the first year of my detention, we wanted to defend our political rights, but to no avail and without allowing us  to express our position.

He said, "Without listening to us, I was sentenced to life imprisonment, after we were severely beaten and muzzled when we were asked to express our position and defend ourselves."

How did he bear all this... and what prompted him to resist and stand firm?

Sarbast Saeed, the former detainee in the prisons of the Turkish occupation state, restored his resistance and his comrades in prisons to the spirit of the resistance of his comrades on July 14, 1982, and to their belief in the ideas and philosophy of the leader Ocalan, especially after the leader was arrested, saying: "My friends and I resisted with our strong will based on  The thought and philosophy of the leader Ocalan, despite the beatings and insults, as well as the resistance of Amed prison, and Imrali prison after the arrest of our leader Abo.

He added, "Following the arrest of the leader Ocalan, prisons and detention centers witnessed a lot of resistance in the face of the Turkish occupation state, as well as outside prisons. We learned that 73 people set fire to their bodies inside and outside prisons, in protest and condemnation of the leader's arrest."

After 30 years of detention in the prisons of the Turkish occupation state, the revolutionary fighter Sarbast Mulla Rashid Saeed pledged to continue his path of struggle and work according to the thought and philosophy of leader Ocalan.  and the liberation of the leader Apo.
