​​​​​​​Khadija Ibrahim: sanctions against the leader have no legal basis

The fascist Turkish state authorities again imposed "disciplinary sanctions" for another 3 months on leader Abdullah Ocalan and the other Imrali detainees (Omar Khairy Konar, Hamili Yildirim and Waysi Aktash) on June 23, in order to prevent them from meeting with their families and lawyers, according to what Mesopotamia Agency reported.

Khadija Ibrahim, explained that Turkish authorities' imposition of new "disciplinary sanctions" on leader Ocalan "have no legal basis, and are considered among the penalties that degrade human dignity, according to international human rights law, and it is considered a humanitarian crime that requires Turkish government to be punished."

She added, "This matter has been repeated every once in a while, as these penalties are renewed without any legal basis, and leader Ocalan lawyers are not informed of these sanctions."

Khadija stressed that these sanctions target the will of Kurds in particular, and all the peoples of north and east Syria and Middle East in general, and said, "The more the pace of struggle and demand for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, the more Turkish state imposes sanctions and isolation on the leader."

Khadija Ibrahim criticized the silence of international human rights organizations and institutions regarding the violations committed by Turkish state against the Kurds and the peoples of Middle East, explaining, "Through imposing these sanctions, Turkish state seeks to sever the relationship between leader Ocalan and the peoples of Middle East."

Khadija drew attention to the impact of Imrali prison on the health of leader Abdullah Ocalan, saying: "More than 23 years have passed since the captivity of leader Ocalan in Imrali prison, which lacks the most basic human rights, especially for leader's age."

On what is required to stop the violations practiced by fascist Turkish state against leader Ocalan in Imrali prison, co-chair of Defense Committee of Abdullah Ocalan, Khadija Ibrahim, called on "all free peoples and democratic personalities who believe in freedom and equality to raise the pace of their struggle and solidarity with the cause of leader Ocalan, which is a cause for all the peoples of Middle East."
