​​​​​​​IDPs and Refugees’ Office in NE, Syria confirm to open Tel Koçer Crossing for humanitarian aid

On Sunday, the Office of Displaced Persons and Refugees in North and East Syria issued a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Refugees, in which it called on human rights organizations and United Nations institutions to assume their responsibilities towards the thousands of IDPs and refugees in north and east Syria, stating:

The United Nations has designated the twentieth of June of each year as the International Day for Refugees all over the world in honor of them, and to show their suffering and the difficulties and hardships they endure, as a result of having to leave their countries to escape repression, persecution, killing and the horrors of war, and to clarify the duties of the countries that It hosts refugees, provides material and psychological support, and guarantees their rights so that the refugee and the displaced can lead their normal lives until they return to their homes.”

The statement continued, "The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has received thousands of displaced Syrians and thousands of Iraqi refugees, and has built camps and worked to the utmost to secure a decent life for them. It has also secured living necessities for thousands of displaced people from Afrin, Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad, despite lack of financial capabilities, and the state of siege imposed and the closure of border crossings.

The statement added, "On the International Day of Refugees, human rights organizations and United Nations institutions are invited today to carry out their responsibilities towards the thousands of IDPs and refugees distributed in dozens of camps in the areas of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and to provide support and supplies necessary for a decent life, which the administration is unable to provide due to the large number of IDPs. As well as putting pressure on the Turkish government and forcing it to ensure the safe and voluntary return of the forcibly deported residents of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad under international auspices, stopping the construction of settlements and the demographic change processes taking place in the areas occupied by Turkey, and issuing a UN resolution to open the Tel Koçer Crossing for aid humanity.”
