Yesterday, Wednesday, the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a written statement translated into Arabic by the Firat news agency, denouncing the Turkish attacks on Shengal.

At the outset, the statement condemned the Turkish state's drone attacks on the People's Assembly in Sinun district, and offered its condolences to the Nasso family and the people of Kurdistan for the martyrdom of a child and his grandfather from this family.

Yesterday, Wednesday, a drone belonging to the Turkish occupation army launched two air attacks on the People's Assembly in Sinun district and its market in Shengal district, which resulted in the martyrdom of the child Saleh Shivan Khader Nasso and his grandfather Khader Nasso, in addition to the injury of 6 others, including journalist Saleh Barjas and another child.

The statement said: The Sinun area is linked to Shengal and its people are Yazidis. ISIS occupied the region in 2014, and other areas, which witnessed massacres and crimes against humanity. After the defeat of ISIS, and since then, Turkish government forces have attacked Shengal dozens of times, targeting Yezidi believers and Shengal's children. The Turkish state’s attacks are a continuation of the genocidal attacks of ISIS.

The statement added, "Turkey wants to exploit these issues at this time, and increases its attacks on the Kurdish people. For more than two months, the Turkish state has been attacking the Kurdistan Freedom Forces with all its strength and chemical weapons. It threatens Rojava and launches attacks on it from time to time, and now it is attacking Shengal and killing children."

"In the context of NATO expansion, NATO officials and representatives of many countries say, 'We understand the security threats to Turkey', which gives this position the boldness and opportunity for Erdogan and his government to increase their attacks on the Kurdish people," the statement continued.

In its statement, the Kurdistan National Congress called for a revolt in the face of the crimes of the Turkish occupation, saying: "The residents of Shengal need humanitarian assistance. Shengal, especially its children and the Yezidi believers, must be protected. In this regard, we call on the human and democratic world, and every person of conscience, to rise up against the attacks of The Turkish state, protecting the people of Shengal and its children, and standing by the people of Kurdistan.”

It concluded its statement, stressing, "We are with the people of Shengal, and we will protect our people and we will follow this issue to the end, we once again condemn the Turkish state and its allies, and offer our condolences to the family of Nasso and the people of Kurdistan, and we wish a speedy recovery to the wounded."
