With the continuation of Turkish moves in the region, there is talk of "neo-Ottomanism" again, as this term is used to describe Turkey's foreign political relations led by the Justice and Development Party.

The moves of the Turkish occupation state continue to strike the components of the Syrian lands and change the demographics.

In the last of these steps, the Turkish occupation state began under the title of "voluntary return of Syrian refugees" by returning thousands of Syrians to the areas it occupies and resettling them in occupied areas.

The occupying power also continues to launch attacks on Southern Kurdistan, and establishes dozens of military bases there.

A project arranged after the First World War

On this, the head of the Arab Center for Research and Studies, Muhammad Fathi Al-Sharif, said that “the neo-Ottomanism is a project that was arranged for after the First World War, and the beginning was with the new map that was drawn for the world in 1920, and it was the map (the Milli Charter) that appeared after the defeat of the armies of the  Ottoman Empire by the Allied forces on various fronts.

Al-Sharif added, during an exclusive interview with our agency, that "Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's declaration of the war of liberation, in January 1920 confirms the beginning of the formation of the neo-Ottoman project, and therefore Mustafa Kemal asked at that time to convene the Ottoman parliament, known as (the Council of Envoys), so the Council convened.  On January 28 of the same month, the meeting ended with the announcement of the Milli Charter, which was a document defining the new borders of Turkey, and considered the charter, the areas inhabited by a majority of Turkish Muslims, to be the homeland of the Turkish nation.

The head of the Arab Center for Research and Studies added, "On January 28, 1920, the Ottoman (Envoys) Council approved what was known as the Milli Charter, which reflects the view of the Turkish elite at the time about the geographical borders of the new state after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War."

 Turkish discrimination and racism

The head of the Arab Center explained that "the era of Turkish discrimination and racism in seeking to reverse the collapse of the old Ottoman project and the beginning of the establishment of the new Ottoman project began with a series of discrimination between identities and the denial of national pluralism within the borders of the Milli Pact."

He stressed that "the borders of (the Milli Charter) were according to the maps that were adopted at the time, which include the Wilayat of Mosul, that is, the current governorates of Mosul and Iraqi Kurdistan ( Başûr Kurdistan), in addition to the Syrian border strip with Turkey. This means that the Turkish elite at the time was ignoring the national identities of the majority of residents.  in northern Iraq and northern Syria, the largest of which are those of the Kurdish ethnicity.”

Al-Sharif pointed out that "Turkish racism towards the Kurds from the old days until today, and the beginning was from the announced statements at the beginning of the neo-Ottoman project a hundred years ago, and the goal was to deny the Kurdish identity."

The head of the Arab Center pointed to Turkish racism that appeared in the statements of the Turkish Prime Minister, Mustafa Inonu in 1930, in which he said: “The Turkish people alone have the right to determine their demands and not any other national group.” Among the crude racist statements was what one of the ministers of that government said, where he said  "Any race that is not pure enough, has no right but to serve the Turk."

Turkish exploitation of conditions in the countries of the region

Al-Sharif stressed that "conflicts have persisted between the oppressed and the racism of the ruling Turkish regimes over the past years, but the neo-Ottoman project was remarkably active after 2011, as Erdogan took advantage of the chaos that struck Iraq, Syria and some Arab countries, and it was a good opportunity for Turkey to penetrate into Syria and Iraq,  In a barbaric, racist, barbaric way, targeting the Kurdish component in those soft areas."

The head of the Arab Center added, "Turkey has been directly involved in the events in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, and has searched for reviving its project, taking advantage of the Justice and Development Party's cooperation with terrorist groups in the Arab countries to bring about a new political reality that serves Erdogan's dream in his project."

The Brotherhood..a Turkish weapon to implement the neo-Ottoman project

Al-Sharif stressed that "this matter confirms that the terrorist Brotherhood is one of the Turkish weapons in the region to implement their new project, because the neo-Ottomanism is broader and more comprehensive than the terrorist group that was one of the levers to implement their project. Therefore, the Justice and Development Party ally with the Brotherhood is not out of love for them but rather to benefit from them."

Al-Sharif continued, saying: "Recep Erdogan has prepared for the new project from the beginning of 2012, and when he asked about Syria, he said that it is a country that was founded on the rest of the old Ottoman Empire, which confirms that Erdogan has expansionist goals, and justified the intervention in Libya as a legacy  Old Ottoman. It is the neo-Ottoman frameworks announced by positions, hidden by Turkey and neglected by everyone.

The head of the Arab Center stressed that "Erdogan followed all the ways and means in early 2012 to enable the forces supporting him to reach power in the countries that serve their aspirations, especially that the terrorist Brotherhood fell into Erdogan's arms."

He added that Erdogan helped push, finance and train extremist groups in Syria, Libya and Iraq in cooperation with some traitors, and worked to dismantle the national armies in Syria, Iraq and Libya.

Al-Sharif concluded, "The neo-Ottomanism is a project based on the land, although the Turks' statements contradict that, because their goal is to form the borders included in the Milli Charter in 1920."

 Regressive colonialism and old hatred

In turn, the Libyan political analyst, Othman bin Baraka, said that "every time there is a vacuum in all its forms, whenever an opportunity is given to colonialism to return," noting that "the neo-Ottoman project is in fact the return of backward colonialism to the region again, led by the Turks in a new dress, but in the same style."  Inferiority and old hatred.

Ben Barka explained, during an exclusive interview with our agency, "that these perceptions are not new to the region, but the new is the color and style because of the inferiority and the false belief resulting from the misreading of the course of history," noting that "the Turks are trying to remarket themselves to occupy the region that they believe is their national domain."  .

The oppressed people must unite to confront

Regarding the relationship of the neo-Ottoman conception to the Union and Progress Society, the Libyan political analyst pointed out that "the world now considers material hegemony a logical method under the pretext of preserving national security, but the truth is the occupation of peoples and the plunder of their wealth."  He stressed that "the relationship did not end in the past, but rather took acceptable forms according to the fashion of the times, but the truth is that the new colonialism, union and progress have the same methodology and policy as the Justice and Development Party, and the oppressed peoples must unite to confront them."
