Defence Committee of Mr. Ocalan documents 13 Turkish occupation violations against him

Defense Committee of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan in north-eastern Syria documented thirteen violations by the Turkish state of the rights inherent in the personality of the leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison.

Following an international conspiracy involving a number of major countries, leader Ocalan was kidnapped in 1999, and he is being deprived of his most basic rights in prison, and of meeting his lawyers and family, in a move that intensifies the isolation imposed on him.

Defense Committee of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan in north-eastern Syria issued a statement, a copy of which we received, documenting 13 violations committed against him by the Turkish authorities.

The statement reads:

The Turkish State violations of the inherent personal rights of the Leader Ocalan in the notorious Imrali Prison.

1. The negative correlation between the judiciary and the administration of prisons in Turkey. Continuity of exercising absolute power.

 2. Lack of humane practices and respect for genuine human dignity.

3. Concealing the detailed information about the location of imprisonment from the defense team.

4. Lack of information in the Leader Ocalan's possession about his rights with a detailed description and how to practice it.

5. Denial of basic rights to communicate with the outside world; especially with his family and attorneys permanently, not only for few days.

 6. Lack of access to help from his attorneys, in any ways, for consultation and advice purposes, under the pretext of maintaining order.

 7. Lack of right to visit, especially by his family; by person or by correspondence.

8. Lack of any opportunity to conduct medical examination within short periods, which it leads to an absence of medical care and treatment. In addition to wasting all of his requests and his attorneys requests.

9. Denial of informational and educational resources and media materials.

10. Lack of regular inspecting process in the place of arrest conducted by qualified entities independent of the visual authority that claims administration over the place of arrest of the Leader Ocalan.

11. Lack of rights that enables him to present a request or a complaint regarding treatment; especially the practice of torture and other harsh, inhumane, and insulting practices.

12. The practice of torture on the basis of race, language, ethnic identity and political views.

13. Continuation of solitary confinement.
