Euphrates Region condemns the Sheikh Maqsud-Ashrefiye blockade

The blockade imposed the people of the Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrefiye quarters of the city of Aleppo by the Fourth Division of the Syrian Government army comes within the arbitrary and bankrupt policy since the very onset of the crisis in the country as the Syrian government deny access all food items and basic needs of the everyday life to the two quarters from time to another.

Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Euphrates Region Nihad Ahmed says: '' this is not the very first time the Syrian regime imposes blockade on the quarters of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrefiye in Aleppo. From time to time the Syrian regime seeks to exploit the world crisis represented in the Russia-Ukraine war, as the whole world is obsessed with the war, the Syrian regime tries to put pressure on the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria  to make concessions just to make some gains''.

Nihad indicated that ''whatever the Syrian regimes does to impose blockade on the regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Sheikh Maqsud or other places it will never be able to gain anything. During the course of eleven years the region faced a much bigger blockade but it was due to the steadfastness and determination of its people that it overcome the crisis attaining victory at the end''.

Nihad called on the Syrian government to give up this mentality that it embraced since the onset of the crisis in the country. The Euphrates Region perceives that the sole solution for the Syrian crisis lies in giving up the mentality that adopts blockade that deepens the crisis and aggravates the situation more and more. The government should listen to Syrians''.

Nihad said he is confident one hundred per cent that the people of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrefiye will attain victory at the end, for they have experienced such circumstance previously, and even in more grave situations. The people of these regions are supporting you to break the blockade''.

At the end Nihad said : we are not weak, we can put pressure on the Syrian regime, by imposing blockades on others areas but we are against such ideas for we aim to protect Syrians, and to make them pass the crisis created by the war. We are supporting this idea; from the very day of the war we adopt peace and not war''. 

Since March 31 the Fourth Division refuses food items and raw material to enter the two quarters of the city of Aleppo.
