PYD: Leader Ocalan gifted a new Newroz; revived the resistance spirit

Democratic Union Party drew attention, in a statement issued on Saturday, to the fact that solving the Kurdish issue is closer than ever, indicating that the strength and energies of the Kurdish people and their homeland Kurdistan have become part of the equations that achieve stability in the entire region.

The statement reads:

Newroz, the new day that came upon the peoples of Mesopotamia with their deliverance from tyranny and oppression at the hands of the people’s son Kawa in 612 BC, is still repeated throughout history to this day. The resistance and liberation of Kawa and its peoples despite that, Newroz, which means resistance to oppression and tyranny, and adherence to freedom and resistance, remained immortal in the memory of the peoples of the Middle East to celebrate it every year.

Newroz was a symbol of resistance to slavery and oppression in the slavery era, and a way to resist the toiling people in the face of the exploitation of feudalism, and then a role model for the resistance of the working class in the face of the bourgeoisie, until it became a symbol of resistance to occupation and exploitation of capitalist modernity, and the resistance is still continuing and embodied in the freedom movement of Kurdistan. This movement, whose seed was planted in Newroz 1973 by the leader Ocalan, has grown and hardened, and is now fighting against the enemies of peoples and the working forces to enslave and exploit them. The people's leader Ocalan has gifted a new Newroz to the region through the democratic nation project, which has revived the spirit of resistance of the people against the fascist dictatorial regimes.

Just as Newroz meant the return of the soul to nature again, it has spread the spirit of resistance against injustice and tyranny and renews hopes for freedom and emancipation from the restrictions imposed by the monopolies of power and wealth on peoples, which means defiance and fighting the forces of tyranny on this occasion every year. Among the sons and daughters of the Kurdish people who made their bodies the flame of Newroz, and some of them clashed with the forces of evil until it fell as a martyr to become a symbol of the resistance of Newroz, and that is why Newroz became a day of terror in the hearts of the forces of oppression and tyranny, and the Kurdish people in the four parts paid the blood of hundreds of their sons on the day of Newroz to express his adherence to his freedom, his homeland and a decent life.

Newroz 2022 is going through us in unprecedented circumstances and conditions of complexity and intertwining in global and regional policies, and the resistance of the Kurdish people and the awakening of the peoples in general in the Middle East has placed the task of vanguard of the democratization process in the region on the shoulders of the Kurdistan freedom movement, and the solution of the Kurdish issue and its freedom is closer than ever before. Because the strength and energies of the Kurdish people and their homeland Kurdistan have become part of the equations that achieve stability in the entire region.

General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) extends its warmest congratulations on the occasion of Newroz 2022 to the Kurdish people in the four parts, and to all peoples celebrating Newroz, and renews its pledge to the martyrs of Newroz and the martyrs of freedom to follow in their footsteps until achieving the goals for which they sacrificed their lives, and for the brotherhood and freedom of peoples to be consolidated and coexistence with its free will is within the principles of the democratic nation in all of Syria, and indeed in the region as well. And just as we were faithful to our pledge in the past, we will remain committed to the approach of our martyrs and the aspirations of our people until they become a reality.
