The General Command of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) sent a message to all the women of the world, especially the women of north and east Syria, on the occasion of International Women's Day, during the separate celebrations of the resistance today in most cities and regions of north and east Syria.

In its message, the Women's Protection Units congratulated all the women of north and east Syria, Syria in general, and the whole world, especially the mothers, daughters and wives of martyrs, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

YPJ General Command explained in its message” Day after day, the women made great sacrifices, and proved its efficiency with the ability to lead society towards change and democratic reconciliation, when we evaluate the last decade of women's struggle that is still continuing in all parts of the world. We find it embodied in a joint struggle to change arbitrary and oppressive laws. Kurdish, Arab and internationalist women, Afghani and South African women and many others show great strength in challenging patriarchal mentalities, whether those practiced by purely male mentalities or dominant and monopolistic states.

Adding: "Through our assessment of the women's situation during the year 2021, we find that there are gaps that women's organizations must fill, in order to strengthen the bonds among them to form a protective shield for women regardless of their geographical locations, and we also find that, in conjunction with the escalation of the feminist struggle, the dominant countries were it escalates its development of means of oppression and enslavement, so the feminist society must draw lessons from the past recent years, and put in place mechanisms to raise the pace of struggle and unite feminist ranks in 2022.

And added in its letter: "This day is not limited to the general killing that took place in New York, but it was a product of the darkest and most turbulent days in women's history. It came as a reaction and struggle to expose the practices of the regimes that fight women. It continues to this day, and in the example of the Yazidi women in Şengal and Afrinians and the women of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, those women who were killed because of the madness of revenge and ethnic genocide that afflicted the Turkish state and its mercenaries, which avenged the terrorist organization ISIS and is still taking revenge by killing the woman who is the artery life force of the community.

At the conclusion of the message, they emphasized: "Every year on this day, we renew our pledge to continue it. Every year, we stress the deepening of the meaning of this day and making the organization of women a priority in our struggle." We also seek to focus on achieving tangible results in this regard, and "we renew our pledge to all women who are searching for freedom and equality, all the martyrs, and we pledge to our mothers and sisters in the occupied territories that we will continue our struggle until their liberation and the liberation of our occupied lands."
