First conference of health body in NE, Syria kicks off

A number of officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the health committees of the seven administrations, the Kurdish Red Crescent, and representatives of international health organizations working in north-eastern Syria, such as Doctors Without Borders and Medicare, participated in the conference.

The conference began with a minute of silence, in honour of the martyrs’ souls, followed by a welcoming speech on behalf of the Health Body in North and East Syria delivered by the co-chair of the body, Joan Mustafa, who welcomed at the beginning the attendees from all regions and representatives of health organizations.

"We are meeting today to discuss the most important challenges facing the health sector in north and east Syria, and to work on developing it on all sides," he added.

He stated that despite the economic pressures and siege imposed on the Autonomous Administration, in addition to the COVID pandemic, that effected significantly on NE, Syria on health sector and AANES, confirming that through this conference we will come up with outcomes that support AANES on health level and secure all medical supplies for them.”

Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, delivered by the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Berivan Khaled.

It is scheduled to read assessments that include the directives of the democratic nation on the health sector, followed by a reading of a report on the work of the commission during the past year, in addition to an explanation of the draft of the health sector in NE, Syria.
