​​​​​​​Turkish –mercenary crimes in Afrin in 2022

Since the Afrin occupation was occupied by the Turkish forces all kinds of crimes continue in the region against all indigenous people.

According to Ibrahim Sheikho, the Spokesperson for the Human Rights Organization Afrin-Syria, 96 citizens including 11 women and 5 children were abducted by the Turkish Intelligence Services and mercenary groups since 2022.  

Sheikh said 10 murders were committed and more than 5000 trees were cut down in addition to the destruction of 9 historical sites.

Sheikh said the Turkish occupation forces and its mercenary groups are intentionally cutting down trees and destroying archaeological sites to eradicate the culture of the people of Afrin that dates backs to thousands of years ago.

Sheikh noted to the demographic change and the building of mosques in Yazidi villages to displace them from their villages 

Sheikh said there are at least 18 settlements built by Qatari and Kuwaiti associations of Muslim Brotherhood adding lately Palestinian societies are getting more active in the region encouraged by Turkey.    

Sheikh said 'mercenary groups in Afrin were all ISIS affiliates making clear that Turkish occupation made Afrin a hostile hotbed in the region' saying 'crimes are relentless amid an international silence and disregard''.
