Deputy of US envoy on his visit to AANES, confirms endeavor to reopen Fish Khabur crossing

Today, Tuesday, the Deputy US Special Envoy for Syria, Matt Borrell, visited the Department of Foreign Relations in Qamishlo to discuss the latest developments in the region.

 He was received by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar, the co-chairs of the co-presidency, Fanar Al-Gait and Abeer Elia, and a member of the administrative board, Dr.  Muhammad Hassan, according to the official website of the Department of Foreign Relations.

 During the meeting, views were exchanged on several political and economic issues of common interest.

 The Department of Foreign Relations put the Deputy US Special Envoy for Syria, Matt Borrel, in a picture of the economic situation as a result of the siege imposed on the region, especially after the closure of the Tal Koçer (Al Yaroubiya) crossing and the lack of relief and humanitarian supplies.  ) and its repercussions on the economic and humanitarian situation, and thus the stability of the region.

 The co-chair Omar, explained the impact of the repeated Turkish attacks on the areas of Tel Tamr and Zarkan, in addition to targeting civilians with drones, on destabilizing the region, indicating that all of this is in the service of terrorism.

 The two sides discussed the threat of terrorism, the situation of detention centers, the Al-Hol and Roj camps, and the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities.

 For his part, Ambassador Matt Burrell stressed the continued presence of the coalition forces and the United States in the region to fight terrorism, support the stability of the region, strengthen economic relations and work to open the Semalka (Fish Khabur) crossing because of its economic and humanitarian repercussions on the people, in addition to putting pressure on the international community to bear  His responsibilities towards the file of ISIS detainees and their families in the Al-Hol and Roj camps.
