​​​​​​​Evin Juma'a: UN must take a decision about the Turkish crimes against the detainees

Turkish prisons contain thousands of political detainees, Kurdish parliamentarians, activists, intellectuals, journalists and lawyers. A few days ago, Turkish state caused the martyrdom of 6 activists and political detainees because of its inhumane crimes.

On this issue, a member of human rights organization in Jazera region, Evin Juma'a, explained that, according to UN, human rights situation is dire in Turkey, and United Nations says that the number of people arrested for their opinions is increasing annually, and she said, "Turkish state arrested in 2020 More than 3,000 people in Turkey. And the practice of torture inside prisons increased during this year".

Juma'a commented on the ban on visits of the detainees, and said Turkish state did that under the pretext of Corona pandemic, and continued, "The situation of detainees who were affected by the pandemic was not known".

And she said also that, "They say, detainees are committing suicide, but according to the laws relating to detainees issued in 1955, the Turkish state is responsible for the lives of the detainees".

Evin Juma'a also noted to the hunger strike activists, and said, "Many activists in prisons went on hunger strike, but they lost their lives as a result of ignoring their demands. Turkish state is doing this with the aim of get rid of the opposition and those who demand the freedom".

"They want to stifle voice of freedom by committing crimes against women"

Evin Juma'a mentioned the torture and abuse of female detainees, "When women call for a cause, the people enthusiastic. Therefore, the pressure on women is to destroy the voice of the people" And she continued "Turkish state is intensifying its systematic attacks on women inside and outside prisons. Women are always targeted by Turkish state, because when women take the leadership, the people follow her".

Recently, Ghariba Gezar was martyred in a Turkish prison as a result of torture.

"Families who protest are arrested"

Commenting on the protest of martyrs and detainees families inside Turkish prisons, she stated that Turkish state is trying to silence activists, politicians and revolutionaries by arresting them. However, families going to the streets to protest.

Activists and families of detainees in many cities in Turkey are protesting for justice and the release of their detained sons, but they remain without any response.

"There is no justice in Turkey"

Evin Juma'a stated that UN says that the level of human rights in Turkey is deteriorating and the policy that pursued by Turkish state today is the reason, and said, "The Turkish state practices the same practices on the people and detainees as well. There is no justice in Turkey. People who want to defend are under pressure, and the lawyers too, they are constantly threatened and arrested".

Juma'a concluded her speech by saying, " Turkish state interferes in the countries and surrounding areas and does that in a military way all the time. Turkish state arrests people from areas it occupies as well, and puts them in Turkish prisons.

There are more than 2,00 Syrian citizens in Turkish prisons, and Turkish state considers this as normal. United Nations Security Council must pass a resolution to prevent these violations" .
