PYD: Turkish Minister of Interior's to Afrin is a violation of international conventions

 This came in a statement issued by the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, commenting on the visit of the Minister of Interior, "Suleiman Soylu" yesterday to Afrin and Azaz, north of Aleppo, and said in the statement:

 Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis and the interference of international and regional powers, Turkey has had its own policies that serve its long-term ambitions. It is the most harmful and bloodiest occupying power in its pursuit of a policy of genocide and brutal practices, and in violation of all international laws and covenants without abiding by any moral or humanitarian standards. It has practiced killing, destruction, displacement and demographic change and water was used as a weapon to thirst civilians, and the exhumation of graves, including the destruction of the graves of martyrs wherever they arrived, knowing that all these practices are considered war crimes and crimes against humanity.Today, the Minister of the Interior of the Turkish occupation, in flagrant violation of international conventions, visits the city of Afrin and the northern countryside of Aleppo as if they were areas belonging to the Turkish province, which reveals the reality of the expansionist Turkish policy aimed at annexing these areas to Turkey and Turkifying them as it did to the Alexandretta Brigade, imposing a fait accompli and encouraging terrorist factions to follow their immoral practices against our people and people in northern Syria.

 We in the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) condemn in the strongest terms these violations, which exacerbate the Syrian crisis, deepen the wounds of the Syrian people, entrench the inhuman chapters of the occupation and perpetuate demographic change.  We call on all parties and states concerned with the Syrian issue to do what is necessary to curb these violations, as silence over Turkish practices pushes them to persist in them.  This requires accelerating more efforts to reach a radical solution and a comprehensive settlement in Syria and liberate the occupied areas from the Turkish occupation, so that our forcibly displaced people and people can return to their lands and cities.
