Turkish war on Kurdistan Mountains... Cultural, historical dimensions

The Turkish occupation state is facing great resistance by the Guerrilla forces in the context of its attempts to eliminate the Kurdish people through its military attack, which prompts it to attack Kurdish history and culture and change the demographics of Kurdistan regions.

In recent years, the Turkish occupation state has intensified its attempts to eliminate the Kurdish people's existence, it also continued in its quest to eliminate Kurdish culture and history and manipulate with Kurdistan regions' demographics.

For more than 3 months, it has been targeting Mountains of Kurdistan in Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan) through its army and cannons, in a move to control that area to save its face after the repeated defeats it suffered at the hands of the People's Defense Forces (HPG).

Kurds must know their history and realize that they are the true owners of this land

In its attack, the Turkish occupation army relies on the silence of the Kurdistan and Iraq governments which have not yet expressed their position on the Turkish attacks and the burning of civilian homes bombarding them, in addition to the cooperation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party which mobilizes its forces in the Guerrilla's areas of deployment.

Co-chair of the Directorate of Antiquities in the Euphrates region, Ali Suleiman, says that "the Kurdish people must weaponize themselves with their culture, for the Turkish state does not fight us only with weapons, but also fights us with history. Its goal since its entry into the region is to exterminate Kurds, and eliminate any Kurdish endeavor to establish itself, and some countries are helping it in this."

Ali Suleiman added, "The Turkish occupation army uses the policy of destroying and stealing historical monuments the areas under its occupation, and burns houses in an effort to falsify the history of the region. Furthermore, its attack on Mountains of Kurdistan in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan is nothing but a Turkish effort to change the map of the region."

He continued, "The Turkish occupation state destroyed historical monuments and stole antiquities in Afrin, in addition to transferring them to Turkish lands with the aim of changing the demographics of the region and Turkificating it."

Ali Suleiman pointed out that "the history of the indigenous peoples in the Middle East lies in the region between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers from 12000 BC to today, specifically the history of the Median state, and Kurds should know their history and that they are the true owners of this land, and arm themselves with this ancient history in the face of Turkish ambitions seeking to negate it."

Historical documents indicate that the launch of civilization was from Kurdistan Mountains' ranges in Zagros and Taurus between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and it began from the Neolithic stage, and this is what prompts Turkey to deny the history of the Kurds by destroying its archaeological features and eliminating anything related to Kurds to prove that it is the owner of the land in Mesopotamia.

Başûr government's silence puts the Kurdish people in danger

In their history, Kurds suffered many setbacks through the agreements concluded against them, and in the modern era, Kurds have been being annihilated for a century in front of the human rights organizations which keep silent about the exterminations committed by the Turkish army against Kurds, as well as the Kurdistan government which distances itself from the Turkish war on Kurds inside its land.

As for Co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates region, Berivan Ismail, said that "there are many agreements concluded on the lands of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Regional Government is silent, and we are surprised by its silence which puts the Kurdish people in Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan) at the risk of Turkish shells."

Berivan Ismail added, "The Turkish occupation state is trying today to break the will of a people who no one has been able to undermine through the Kurdistan government which is armed with its silence in the face of Turkish attacks on the region and clings to narrow family interests."

Berivan continued, "The forces of the Kurdistan government have tried more than once to drag the Guerrillas into a civil war among Kurds, but the Guerrillas have thwarted this scheme that has been expressing Turkish dreams since decades."

At the end of her speech, Berivan Ismail said, "We do not appeal to human rights organizations and major countries to defend Kurds in Mountains of Kurdistan, but we appeal to our Kurdish people everywhere, specifically in Southern Kurdistan to thwart the Turkish plans that are being drawn on the land. We also say to Kurds, do not rely on anyone, but yourselves. With unification, we will prevail."
