Noran Sezgin: Turkish attack on Makhmur was legalized by silence

Ishtar Council Coordination's member in Makhmur called on the people of Southern Kurdistan to revolt against the Turkish occupation's plans and realize the sensitivity of the stage, and said, "The United Nations and the PDK's silence have legitimized the occupier's attacks on Makhmur Camp."

Since last April 23rd, Turkish occupation army is carrying out a wide scale ground and air offensive on the areas of Zap, Avaşîn and Metina in Southern Kurdistan, in coincidence with its targeting on 5 June of Makhmur (Restum Judi) Camp in which thousands of displaced civilians live.

The people in the Makhmur Camp are subject to the attacks of the Turkish occupation and harassment by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) allied with the occupation, even though it is run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Observers of Kurdistan affair see that the goal of the Turkish occupation and its right-handed Kurdistan Democratic Party's attacks is to distance the residents of Makhmur from their revolutionary struggle, break their will, and occupy all areas of Southern Kurdistan and its gains.

Ishtar Council Coordination's Member in Makhmur, Noran Sezgin, indicated in a statement to ANHA agency that although Makhmur Camp is subject to the Turkish occupation's repeated attacks.

She said, "As people in the camp are known as a militant and revolutionary people, they refuse subservience and humiliation, so the Turkish occupation and its ally, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, see that they pose a great danger to them, so they attack them."

Noran indicated in this regard, "Since 2015, UN has not done the work rests with it concerning the occupation's attacks and its targeting of the camp. The attacks pose a great danger to the people in general, children and women in particular, so it must clarify its position about the attacks."

She added, "The United Nations should not give the green light to the Turkish occupation to launch its attacks that pose a threat to Southern Kurdistan in general. The fascist Turkish occupation state sees it has a legitimate right to establish military bases and target the villages of Southern Kurdistan to bring about demographic change as the areas it occupied; Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. It is not far from the occupation to practice its violations against Southern Kurdistan people, like the rest of its areas of occupation.

The Turkish occupation continues its conspiracies and occupation plans to exterminate the Kurdish people with the support of the conspiring countries, taking advantage of the silence preserved by Kurdistan Democratic Party with the aim of creating strife and conflicts among the Kurdish interior.

Noran called on the people of Southern Kurdistan to realize the sensitivity of the current phase and AKP's occupation plans and revolt in the face of the Turkish occupation and break their silence about its attacks. She also called on the people to stand beside their people in the camp, "the silence of Southern Kurdistan people expands and legitimizes the attacks of the Turkish occupation and opens the way for it to attack all the people and areas of Southern Kurdistan because the attacks are not only on the camp, but on the entire region."

At a time when the Iraqi forces and the Peshmergha force of Kurdistan Democratic Party abandoned Şengal during the ISIS led genocide of August 3, 201 the fighters of the People's Defense Forces and the Free Women's Units responded to the screams and calls of the Yazidis and blocked the way to great massacres.

Noran indicated that since decades, the fighters of the People's Defense Forces in the mountains of Kurdistan have been defending their people and protecting their land, as they protected Şengal from ISIS mercenaries, adding, "The People's Defense fighters are resisting, and we must stand by them to deter the occupation and its plans on parts of Kurdistan. Furthermore, PDK government should know that the attacks will not be on the camp only, but will extend to all areas of Southern Kurdistan."

At the end, Noran stressed that the goal of the Turkish occupation is to eradicate the peoples of the region and all the gains achieved by their martyred sons and daughters, and to expand the area of its occupation, and that the Peshmerga forces should leave their guns and stand by the People's Defense fighters to prevent any Kurdish infighting and foil the occupation's policies.
